This arrangement is actually VERY weird; it withholds the long and lengthy traditional engagement process until a certain condition is met. The husband here is technically ‘booked’ and has to prove his worth to both the families.
I felt like their specific situation (a family friend visiting but not just to look for a suitor for the eldest) as well as their own unique relationship with each other would allow this outcome to happen anyway. They trust each other and know what’s up with Ayse and Zeynel both. Of course it doesn’t mean it isn’t an outcome that would be removed from questioning and its full context; if I manage to do a larger backstory for Ayse and Zey, it would be one of those things I want to address. But for now, for Zeynel’s story it’s something I gotta leave behind…
UGH THERE IS SO MUCH I LOVE HERE, BLESS YOUR BRAIN FOR ADDING THAT PART WITH HIS DAD GENTLY FLICKING HIS TEAR AWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY TO SLIP INTO DEPICTING THE DAD AS WHOLLY MEAN CONTROLLING BAD GUY I LOVE HOW NUANCED HE IS LIKE HE’S VERY REAL DAD AND HE ISN’T EVEN A SUPER CENTRAL FIGURE AND IS THERE NO END TO YOUR CLEVERNESS UGH
That’s the thing!!! Efraim isn’t a bad guy; he made some bad choices before, yeah, and he isn’t necessarily the warmest person in the room but that shouldn’t be cause for seeing him as a villain. He’s strict and cold for a (and within) reason, and he does love Zeynel; he just expresses it differently.
*screams at the fuller backstory that I won’t be able to tell atm*
Also dumb nerd is dumb thank God he’s cute
